For young people who have just come into contact with ice hockey and inline hockey, how to choose the suitable ice/inline hockey stick?

Stick length: When wearing ice skates or inline skates, the stick should be placed vertically in front of the body, which is about between the nose and the chin when standing, and between the nose and the top of the head when not wearing skates. However, children and teenagers grow rapidly, and a slightly longer stick can also be chosen, but it should be noted that a too long stick is more difficult to control.

Stick flex: For novices, especially teenagers and children, many people suggest choosing a softer stick, with FLEX suggested around 20-40.

Stick blade: It is recommended to choose the mainstream stick blade models, such as P92 or P28. Most novices will choose these two types. Not only novices, but also many experienced players will choose these types of stick blades. As the mainstream stick blades, they have a good performance in both ball control and shooting.

Stick blade durability: The wear and tear of the stick on the ice surface is relatively small. If it is used for inline hockey or street hockey, it is recommended to choose a stick like STANLEY C2 stick which is more wear-resistant. The wear resistance performs well, and the weight increase is not much. After all, nobody wants their stick to be scrapped after being worn on the cement floor for one or two months.

Stick Material: If conditions permit, it is recommended to choose composite material sticks. Composite material sticks such as carbon fiber and glass fiber are lighter in weight, with better hand feel and elasticity. If it is just for experience, a cheaper wooden stick can be chosen.

Tape: Some hockey sticks do not have a coating to increase friction on the surface. It is recommended to choose ice hockey tape and wrap it at the position where the hand holds to increase friction, which is beneficial for beginners to have better controllability, but this depends on personal preference.

Left or right hand: Understand your own hand usage habit. Just find a mop and hold it with both hands to mop the floor. If your left hand is below, choose the left-hand stick, and if your right hand is below, choose the right-hand stick. Considering these factors when choosing a hockey stick to find a suitable one, the suitable hockey stick can help young people and children get on the right track faster and be more handy in daily training.
